The bursary enables a valuable international experience for one Canadian agriculture journalist or communicator. The prize of up to $2,500 will reimburse a member-in-good-standing for costs incurred to attend the 2020 IFAJ congress in Denmark

To encourage international exposure for Canadian agriculture writers and broadcasters by supplying them with the financial means to attend the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists annual congress.
The CFWF International Bursary is an award of the Canadian Farm Writers’ Federation, sponsored by Bayer. It will reimburse the costs, to a maximum of $2,500, for a member to travel to the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists annual congress.
One bursary will be available each year, but one need not be awarded if there are no applicants.
The winner will receive recognition at the annual meeting of the CFWF and will make a presentation on their congress experience and what they learned.
The bursary recipient is also required to attend the full IFAJ Congress and attend any business meetings as requested by the Canadian IFAJ executive representative.
Applicants must be members in good standing of the Canadian Farm Writers’ Federation. Journalists and ag communicators who are employed by a company/organization must provide written confirmation signed by a manager that they are eligible to apply for and accept the bursary under the terms of their employee contract and code of conduct.
- Applications will be evaluated by a committee of CFWF members including a senator from the east, a senator from the west, and a member at large called together by the vice president.
-The committee will be appointed by the CFWF board as needed and the committee decision is final.
Applications will be judged on a scale weighted as follows:
200-300 word written submission = 20 points
Ability to communicate experience to others in agriculture writing community and beyond =20 points
CFWF or regional leadership experience =10 points
